There's a book with a girl with that name (Gwendolyn) and it's the name of one of my housemates rabbits. She speaks Welsh but is technically English and likes to make people's lives difficult by giving her pets odd names. I call the rabbit Gwen for simplicity.

They are all pretty names. At least the poor people who try to spell them have a good excuse.

My mother had two siamese cats she called Chang and Eng, and our current siamese cat is called Birra Bongse, after the last prince of Siam.

For what it's worth, KK, the name "Søren Oosterhuis" is meant to be half-Danish, half-Dutch, and is a joke to myself about how I always confused Denmark and the Netherlands as a kid.
