General Information

Name: Sabriyya Hassan Ali
AKA: Sabra
Gender: female
Age: 7
Place of Birth: Mercer Island, WA
Inoculated: Yes

Personality: Sabra is a bright, cheerful second grader. She excels in school and loves to draw. Sabra is usually well-mannered, and definitely knows how to behave appropriately even if she doesn’t always do her mother proud. She is almost always on her best behavior around adults, and is very good at charming people.

As the only girl in a family of boys, Sabra knows how to get down and dirty. While she would be horrified to be called a tomboy, she keeps up with her four brothers with glee. Of course, she also demands that turnabout is fair play – her brothers can often be found, reluctantly, humoring her by playing out complicated dramas with dolls and dress up. Sabra likes to ride her bike, play jump rope, and do gymnastics. She is a reasonably skilled piano player, though she won’t practice unless her mother makes her.

Amongst her peers, Sabra is a natural leader. She is a creative thinker and makes friends easily. She is known for being bossy and stubborn, and for occasionally being aggressive. She is also known for her compassion, her willingness to stick up for the underdog, and her sense of justice. Her moral compass is still being developed, and right now she is more concerned with “me” than with “us.”

History: Sabriyya’s family is very well off and has lived on Mercer Island for the last 16 years. Sabra’s father, Hassan Omar Ali, is a programmer and a first-generation Microsoft employee who invested wisely. Sabra’s mother, Najmo Abdullah Mohammed, is a lawyer who immigrated with her family from Somalia when she was 13. Hassan and Najmo are both active in the Somali community in Seattle.

Sabra has four brothers: Abdullahi (12), Ibrahim (9), Samatar (5), and Farid (3). Samatar is her favorite brother because he is old enough to play with, but young enough not to have his own opinions.

Growing up on Mercer Island, Sabra has wanted for very little in her life. She always had enough to eat, was loved by her parents and relatives, and had a large backyard and a safe neighborhood in which to play. Although most of the kids around her were white, she never felt like she was different. Sometimes she’s wondered why all of her Somali friends live in South Seattle, but she does not regularly question the social and economic dynamics of her world.

Sabra is trilingual, speaking Somali and English at home, English in school, and Arabic in religious classes. She cannot read or write Somali but is working on mastering the other two languages in all forms.

The Ali family was visiting friends in White Center, WA when Sabra was kidnapped. Abdullahi was supposed to be watching as she played in the park with some other girls, but he was too busy chatting with his friends to do a very good job. The ball the girls were playing with rolled into the parking lot and Sabra chased after it. One of McFarland’s operatives snatched her and took off before anyone really knew what was happening. It wasn’t until later that the kidnappers realized they hadn’t kidnapped one of the “immigrant kids” and had in fact kidnapped a girl whose family had resources. Hassan and Najmo immediately contacted the police and a fairly extensive manhunt took place, complete with multiple news reports and public outreach attempts. No trace of Sabra was found, however, and her family assumes the worst. They still hope that someday she’s found and returned to them alive.

Physical Information

Image

Physical Appearance: Sabra is African-American (though she self-identifies as just “African”). She will probably grow up to be a beautiful woman, but there’s still a bit of the unformed child in her features now. She is 121 cm and 23 kg (3’7” and 50.6 lbs), very healthy and well-proportioned.

She has a pointed chin, full cheeks, and large dark brown eyes. She’s missing one of her upper front teeth, and the other is already an adult tooth that she hasn’t grown into, giving her an awkward smile that most adults find adorable. She is quite dark skinned. Her hair is black and curls tightly. She usually wears it in lots of thin braids with little beads on the end that click as she moves. When it’s loose, it halos her head in a thick pseudo-afro that she refuses to comb.

Clothing and Armor: At home, Sabra wears lots of long skirts and dresses, though she prefers jeans for her ‘adventures’ with her brothers. She is always covered from wrist to ankle. Her favorite colors are pink, orange, and light purple. Most of the time she wears outfits that coordinate well, but she will occasionally dress like a rainbow exploded in her closet.

Weapons: Sabra is very skilled with super soakers and nerf guns.

Inoculated only

Alternate Form: Tasmanian Devil (note: she transforms into a fully grown animal)
Image

Abilities: Sabra has six psychic “arms” that she can manipulate. They have a range of approximately 4 meters, though they get clumsier the further away from her body they are (upon escape, her range is about 2 meters for relative precision). Each arm has a “hand” with an opposable thumb. They are capable of almost anything a human hand could do. Each arm can handle about 20 kg with minimum strain, but with all hands working together she could only manage about 80 kg. (This limit may change as she matures physically and mentally.) At the beginning of the role play she will only be able to accomplish one or two distinct tasks at any given time, though she will eventually grow into her ability. (I highly doubt this will happen during the RP.) The first skill Sabra masters is using the arms as “legs” to move her through the air. Not as cool as flying, maybe, but better than nothing in her opinion.

Abilities in Human Form: When Sabra is in human form, two of her "arms" are insanely protective of her. She has no conscious control over her powers while in human form. While they occasionally do as she asks, her "arms" operate on their own initiative. They respond strongly to any perceived danger and have no concept of morality or the safety of anyone but Sabra.

Other Information

Faction: Neutral Inoculated. After escaping, Sabriyya will try to find a protector. She will likely ally herself (at least initially) with the faction of her chosen protector(s).

Bonus Notes: Sabra was likely captured before most of the other 7th gen, but due to the fuss her parents raised, it took Stark a bit longer to get her back to the facility. It is possible (and because I don't know time periods for sure, this is a loose possible) that other characters might have read about her disappearance or seen her picture on the tv.

p.s. Disclaimer:

Any racist thoughts or actions between your character(s) and mine will be treated as in-game fictions. I will not be offended and will not assume that you are making personal attacks.

Therefore, while I am not encouraging racist behavior, if your character(s) has doubts or opinions about African-Americans, Muslims, immigrants, or rich people, please feel free to explore these issues in a mature manner. (This offer will be rescinded if abused or if it causes problems between players.)

You know... if I hadn't already made my character, I would seriously consider taking you up on that. A big draw of roleplay, for me, is character study. Not everyone in the US is nearly as tolerant as some of us like to think, and it could be interesting to have a character or two with real racial/cultural hangups. That's just my opinion, mind you. :)

And seriously? I'm kinda loving the little girl/LORD OF DESTRUCTION thing you have going on there... from what I understand, tasmanian devils can be vicious XD And kids at that age don't always have a developed sense of morality in the way we tend to think of it. Could be interesting, haha!

I may take you up on that. My character grew up not having much, so there might be some dormant resentment there against rich people.

But given the rest of his personality, I doubt it'll be much of an issue.

I like the concept, even if she is a little younger than I would have preferred. Just be careful with her mental capacities. A 7 year old is not going to be able to devise a strategy like a 20 or 40 year old. I'm sure you'll be fine though,

Don't worry, I'm quite aware of the ramifications of choosing to play a seven year old. For example, using words like ramification. :)

And I really do hope that people take me up on the offer - that's why I made it.

I've been wondering since I've read your power and I have to ask - Elfen Lied?

Eh? I don't know that reference. To the wikipedia!

Ah. The answer is no, I was not familiar with that manga/anime when I devised my character.
