Because I'm really fuckin' sick of them and I don't know what to do besides moving to another forum entirely, which I'd rather not do. -.-

Other than continuing to delete them, is it possible to include some kind of confirmation when people sign up? Like those ones with a series of letters and numbers that you have to copy? It might help. Don't think we have one of those yet.

We've got another one right now. Bale Fire had a pretty good idea, I think. Maybe we should look into that?

With spam bots you don't have a ton of choices:

1.)reCAPTCHA - make people type something before they sign up OR every time they post

2.)Require admin authentication before any user can register

3.)Do nothing and simply keep deleting/IP-banning the bots.

Unfortunately, in my experience with forum spam that's about all you can do. Simply switching forums won't solve the problem, because the bots found you before, and they can find you again.

I vote for reCAPTCHA. Did you notice the new spambot-threads?

We pretty much get 2-3 a day make a new account, post two topics then bugger off. The best I can do atm is cleanup.

Spambots:

Illegal double-post is illegal, but shh.

That's six spambots in two days now. Is there really no way to keep the bots out? An "Are you human?"-question, maybe?

Sadly neither of us have the knowledge to add stuff like that. Will have to as zman.

However, given that the forums have been relatively empty, with people moving to the site comment system, the only reason I keep cleaning it up is because I effin hate spambots.
