This thread is completely separate from the plotline, but everyone stays IC, and everyone knows about what's going on (at least with themselves) in the RP itself. No meta-business, though, please, and don't have characters plot about anything they're going to do IRP. Just a place to have fun with your characters, and have them interact in ways they may not get the chance to otherwise. (more on pg13 of OOC discussion)
So, to have at it:

- - - - -

The facility's biggest rec room - complete with several coffee machines, an AM/FM-radio-included boom box (with a stack of CDs nearby), a fridge full of drinks and goodies, a couple tables, wooden chairs, and comfy couches, and the facilitiy's only "window" (which was actually a skylight, considering it was an underground facility after all) - was quiet at the moment, except for the gurgling of the coffee machines. Apparently someone had started two of them, brewing caffeinated and decaf Foldger's.
Caden poked his head in to the room, looking around. Not immediately noticing anyone, he walked in casually and went straight for the caffeinated coffee and poured himself a cup. A bit of cream, a dash of sugar - just as it should be. He eased himself into one of the couches and leaned back, warming his hands on the coffee cup, and enjoying the quiet....

Ethan walked into the room and grabbed himself a cup of black caffeinated, and sat down next to Caden, asking, "How're things on your end?"

Alix walked into the room cracking his neck, then pulled a chocolate milk out of the fridge, gulping thirstily at it, dropping into one of the large leather chairs in the room. Ah, yeah... good drink and a comfy couch. A simple pleasure, and one I shouldn't get accustomed to. But a pretty good one too. Hearing another person speak, he looked at him, a little surprised to to see the necklace boy he'd talked to earlier not only out of his cell, but in the coffee room, seemingly of his own free will. He probably should escort him and the other one back to their cells. Eh. I'm off duty. It's someone else's job now.
"Pretty good, thanks. Yourself, Lee?"

((awww, come on now - we may not be in The Role Play itself, but we're still role-playing; try to make the posts long enough to be RP-worthy)) ^.^

Of course, right as he got comfortable, someone walked in to the room. Not that the kid was making a lot of noise, though. He seemed nice enough as he got his drink and sat down on the couch next to Caden, asking
"How're things on your end?"
Apparently, though, someone else walked into the room as well. From his look and demeanour, Caden assumed he was one of the guns that patrolled the place. He certainly was not quiet, cracking his neck and gulping his milk loudly before flopping down into one of the chairs and responding to the kid "Pretty good, thanks. Yourself, Lee?"
So they know each other already. Whenever two people who knew each other were talking, Caden could never really bring himself to edge into the conversation, for fear of being seen as disruptive. He did at least answer "Lee's" question quietly: "Alright, I guess. Not sure I like blacking out so much, though."

Caleb followed the sounds of voices into the break room, glad to be out of that damn cell for at least a little bit. He stretched, glancing over at the couch where the others sat drinking their coffee. Coffee... oh dear sweet Jesus, coffee... He went over to pour himself a quick cup, but noticed the fridge on the way over. Changing his mind, he opened the door and snagged a can of coke before walking toward the small group of guys from the holding room.

He usually needed a cup of coffee to feel like himself in the morning. It was really the caffeine more than anything, and to be completely honest, coffee itself wasn't his favorite flavor. The things we do for an energy boost... Hell, I'd probably main line caffeine if I could, Caleb mused, snagging a wooden chair and dragging it across the floor with him.

He dropped to sit backwards on it, grinning and opening his can. "Hey, guys; what's up?"

Several people entered the room in less than a minute, each trying to start a conversation. When the sword guy answered the question he'd asked the guy next to him, he was thrown off, and when yet another person walked in, none to quietly, and threw in his own conversation starter, Ethan had to shake his head to prevent a mental crash.

"I was really asking the guy next to me, but I'm doing fine. And you, with the Coke, the answer is not hopes."

Now that he'd attempted to bring each conversation together into one, Ethan felt much better, and decided to ask, "So you, with the sword, what's you name, I don't think I ever got it."

"I'm Alix. How'd the testing go?" Alix finished the rest of his milk and tossed it into the trash. Looking around, he saw that no one was near the fridge. "Next person who comes in, I vote they should sit next to the fridge, toss us drinks and snacks. Anyone else agree?" It was weird for him to ask people a question instead of ordering them, but the situation seemed to call for it.

"Agreed," replied Ethan. "And interesting name by the way. As for the testing, let's just say that Dr. Helen got an 'earful' from me... Hey. Since we all seem to be friends here, mind if I take a look at your sword?"

Caden sipped on his coffee as he seemed to fade into the background. Well, that was normal. Unless someone actively included him, he wasn't all that social. He was better than when he was in high school, but still not all that good with others. Well, he liked having time to himself too.
Someone walked in just as the man with the sword suggested the next person to show up should sit by the fridge and supply drinks on demand.
"Wait, what did you just say?" the (very large) man said as he walked in.
Caden looked over at him with a smile, shaking his head a bit, as if to say 'don't worry about it' as he tuned out the other conversation (he definitely wasn't interested in swords).

Caleb snickered into his can at the new guy's bewilderment. He listened briefly to the conversation the others were having, but once he realized it was about to turn to the sword, he tuned it out. Medieval weapons were never really his thing.

The other coffee drinker was sitting there in silence as well, and Caleb turned his attention to him.

"Well, you're quiet," he commented, grinning, laying the bait to see if the guy was even interested in conversing to begin with.

(^Hey someone commented on Derrik's size! ^__^)

Noticing what teh one man said, Derrik walked over to the fridge and grabbed a water bottle and walked over to the man who noticed him.
"This spot taken?" He asked, refering to the seat close to him.

Alix looked over the large man sitting down near him, and decided not to continue his joke, convenient though it might have been. "You want to look at my sword? Fine." Alix drew the sword, laying it across his lap at an angle that Lee could see the length of the blade and the design of the hilt.

Two people - both the tall guy and the coke guy - tried talking to Caden at the same time. He back and forth between them a few times quickly, trying to process the double engagement, before finally first looking at the tall guy - dang he's well over six feet for sure....
"No, not yet, you're welcome to sit."
He then quickly turned around to the coke guy and said "I usually am," adding a smirk that said 'and I'll leave it there; you're gonna have to do better than that to get me talking'.
He took another sip of his coffee.

Nodding at the reply, he sat appreciating the company for once, and the fact that they would not want to talk much, allowing him to enjoy his cold water.

((OOC^2: Cy, I think you meant Caden in your last reply... ))

The tall guy came and sat next to the man drinking coffee, and Caleb nodded in greeting.

"I usually am," was the only forthcoming response to Caleb's comment. Of course, the smirk welcomed further coaxing, and Caleb leaned his arms on the back of the chair he was using as a stool. Besides, he reasoned, it would be nice chatting with someone a little closer to his age than his neighbors were.

"Oh, really?" He smirked in response. I can play this game, too. Well, he amended, mentally gauging the time, I can until I'm done with this soda at least...

"I don't remember seeing you in the other room. You one of us," he gestured at himself, and then nodded at the guy with the sword, "or one of them?"

Sabra was skipping down the hall on her way to visit Helen when voices caught her attention. And they were happy voices! Or at least not angry-in-pain voices...

She stuck her head into the room and sniffed. It smelled like coffee. She'd always wanted to try coffee... It smelled so good! Aabbo said it was bad for little girls, though, so she never got any. But Hooyo and Aabbo were somewhere else, and maybe other adults wouldn't mind?

She sidled into the room and began making her way to the coffee pot. She should probably drag over a chair - she could see over the counter, but she wasn't tall enough to comfortably maneuver her arms up there. Dragging a chair would attract attention, though.

She decided to go for the stealthy approach and stood on tip toes to reach an empty cup, pretending with all her might that this was something she did every day.

Alix paused in his conversation with Lee, and looked over at Wavy-Hair, who had just barely avoided spitting a reference towards Alix. "Oh? Is it a bad thing to be one of Us?" he half-smirked at the two talking, getting up from his chair to grab a Snickers from the fridge.

Looking around, as he was mulling over his thoughts, Derrik noticed a little girl over by the coffee. Sighing to himself, he said quietly,
"I'll be right back."
Stealthly moving around, Derrik managed to get around behind the girl and said,
"Well now, what do we have here? A little girl trying to a drink? Wouldn't you perfer something from the fridge?"

Caine found herself drawn in by the smells of coffee and baked goods and found herself in a pleasant-looking break room. It'd be insane to pass such a lovely munching opportunity up. Oooh! And there's a fridge! Caine made a beeline for the fridge and opened it with enthusiasm. She suddenly noticed she had cut off a tall guy from getting at the fridge and ginned apologetically.

"Whoops, sorry." Caine snatched a mini carton of milk and got out of his way. "Just really thirsty, you know?"
