Joanne was happy that the lynx-girl recognised her. It saved her the awkwardness of trying to make 'Do I know you from somewhere?' not sound like some sort of pick-up line.
"Yeah, I am," she nodded. "I haven't introduced myself yet, have I? I'm Joanne." She sipped her tea (pleased to find it was good) and asked the girl, "So what brings you here? Went to get something to drink too or did you just feel like stretching your legs?"

"Yeah, I am," said the woman. With that Cass's smile broadened. "I haven't introduced myself yet, have I? I'm Joanne." she continued, with that Cass extended her hand to shake Joanne's. "Pleased to meet you Joanne, I'm Cassandra but feel free to call me Cass." it was nice to finally be able to put a name to a face. "As for why I'm here I just wanted to chill for a bit." she said as she sipped some more of her lemonade.

She couldn't help but wonder though if Joanne was as bad a navigator as she was, due to only just arriving like herself. "I don't know about you but, this place seems like a maze to me. Took me a little while to find it" she said blushing a little.

Joanne laughed - or rather, tried to, but inhaled some of her tea instead. After the coughing had subsided, she said, "I guess it is like a maze, but that doesn't mean much. I could get lost pretty much anywhere, even if I had signs pointing the way I had to go. I'm just that bad a navigator," she admitted. "So you're like me, blessed with no navigational skills whatsoever?"

At the mention of her poor navigation skills, Cass couldn't help but chuckle aswell, sounds like something she'd do. "So you're like me, blessed with no navigational skills whatsoever?" Joanne inquired, seemingly already knowing the answer. She replied anyway "Yeah totally, thats how I got into this mess, I got lost while at camp and met some guards it seemed." Going for a sip of lemonade she finds she's finished it. "Aww, I hate it when that happens" rising up to go to the fridge she turns back to Joanne "you want anything while I'm up?"

"No thanks, I'm good," Joanne assured Cass, holding up her mug in a weak attempt at demonstrating it. "So you were at camp and got lost? That must've sucked," she said, feeling awkward about using that word when the situation was begging for a stronger one. Still, she didn't know any stronger words that could be used without unleashing a torrent of swears. "Still," she said, focussing her gaze on her hands to avoid eyecontact, "it's slightly more dignified than what happened to me. You got lost, but I just had to tempt the gods of irony by going down that badly-lit alley..."

Will slunk into the room and looked round.

"Now it was here somewhere," he mused, ignoring the low thrum of conversation and made his way to the fridge. "Coke, coke, coke," he sighed, pushing aside cans and bottles. "Prunes, for some reason. Milkshake- ah ha!"

He drew out a dark bottle, hidden in the back, and held it aloft with a triumphant yell.

"Fear my most awesome of ability," he cried. "The power to sense beer."

He paused, and frowned at the cap.

"Anyone have a bottle opener?"

Reain (still a cougar), having finally gotten the can of mountain dew open with his teeth lay contently on the blanket as he lapped at the small spill.

"Anyone have a bottle opener?" He heard and chuckled to himself as someone else had the same problem. Reain smiled a sharp toothed grin, but expected his offer wouldn't be taken up on.

"I can volunteer," Damien said, holding an empty hand toward the newcomer. "Even in human form, my magnetic field should be powerful enough for this one simple thing."

"And here was I hoping for a display of animal magnetism," Will said with a shrug, and handed over the bottle. "So what are you in our grand menagerie?"

Joanne looked up at the mention of beer, gulping down the rest of her lukewarm tea.
"We've got alcohol in this place? Why didn't anyone tell me?" she asked aloud, wandering towards the fridge, opening the door and looking inside for some. If she was going to stay in this lab any longer, she was going to need that beer. "Any chance your beer-senses can find me some too?" Joanne muttered, pushing aside several bottles of orange soda.

Katriane cursed the guard who'd managed to break the coffee machine in the lab nearest to her current room. In her her head of course, it was unseemly for a lady curse in public. Her boots clicked in a clear way down the corridor, the regular sound cooled her anoyannce.

Here I am, she thought as she reached the door to the coffee room. She pushed the door open quickly, to find a room of strangers. Katriane wasn't a gawper but she did pause for a moment, surveying the room, before turning on the coffee machine. They don't look like soldiers, she thought. On another glance she spotted Alix, she recognised him and remembered his name but knew little about him. All she knew was he was a bodyguard to McFarland and had been innocculated like herself. The cougar she expected but was puzzled by as she didn't recall any cougar test subjects. A few small lines appeared on Katriane's forehead for a moment as she assessed the situation but she decided she must not be important enough to know of new test subjects. Or that friends and family of her fellow colleges were allowed to visit. It's not like you ever needed to ask, she mused.

She headed over to the fridge to get some cream, as she approched the men clustered around didn't move. "Excuse me please, Monsieurs," she said, talking to new people made her recall that she had a well spoken, British accent with occasional French over tones. This caused her to purse her lips expecting the men to mock her with their reply.

"Funny guy," Damien said sardonically. The look on his face suggested he had a snarky comment in mind, though he kept it to himself.

Accepting the bottle, he pressed his palm against the cap. "In all seriousness, I haven't really learned much in the way of control over my powers in coyote form." A quick twist of his wrist, and the bottlecap popped loose easily. "If I Changed, and pulled too hard on the lid, you could've lost your grip on the bottle, and that would've just been a waste of beer."

Handing over the open bottle, he lifted his hand, palm up, and reversed his poles to toss the bottlecap into the air. Re-magnetizing it, he caught it on his thumb and flipped it like a coin towards the recycling bins, allowing himself a modest, self-confident smile is it bounced off the wall and slid smoothly into the plastic bag. "I'm learning, though."

Caine looked up from her empty carton of milk as soon as she heard someone say "Excuse me please, Monsieurs,"in an accented voice. Caine's mind scrambled. French? A French person here? I hardly know any French! Um.. Um..

"Est-ce que.. quelque chose.. est erronée?" Caine stumbled over the words. About halfway though talking she already regretted it. I probably said something like: There is something wrong with your face. I shouldn't 'ave said anything at all..

Caine's discomfort showed on her face, although Caine herself didn't notice.

Aaron walked into the break room, and seeing the fridge was already in the process of being raided, he went through the pantry instead, grabbed a packet of pop-tarts and went straight for a seat.

"Aaahh, this is much better than that cage." he said, streching his muscles for what felt like the first time in days, then beginning to nibble on his find. "So, what's up?"

"I'm learning, though," the man commented.

"Oh yeah," Will replied, rolling his eyes. "I can show off too you know." He snatched the bottle back and coaxed a thin stream of fluid into the air. "See, a magic straw." He took a sip and gagged as the sour liquid hit his lips.

"Ack," Will exclaimed in surprise and beer went everywhere as the stream collapsed. "Oh bloody hell. My stupid power even breaks beer." He scowled, and addressed the odd coloured man. "Any chance you want to swap Magneto powers with my ability to curdle milk?"

Having given up her quest for beer (for now, anyways), Joanne leaned against the wall next to the refrigerator, listening to the conversation between the other two test subjects (she was assuming, since they lacked the guns or white coats the non-test subjects had).
"Any chance you want to swap Magneto powers with my ability to curdle milk?" one of the boys was saying. Apparently something had happened, since there was beer all over the place.
"Not exactly magnet-powered, but I'll trade," Joanne said. "You could make a small fortune selling cheese. 'All your dairy needs ready in ten minutes!' Maybe there's someone here who can pull milk out of thin air," she joked lamely.

"I don't do it to show off," Damien said flatly. "I do it to practice control, in case I come to need my power for something slightly more important than opening beers." He took a gulp of his soda, and a half-step toward the fridge. "But since that one's broken, would you care for another?"

"But since that one's broken, would you care for another?" the man enquired and Will seethed, but kept his irritation beneath the surface.

"I'm fine thank you," Will snapped, stepping forwards to block the man and wrenched open the fridge. With his power he reached out at the nearest beer and, fuelled by anger, wrenched it towards him.

There was a crash as the bottle jerked, slipped off the shelf and shattered against the tile floor and Will winced, leaping backwards before it soaked through his shoes. For a moment silence broke across the room.

"Oh forget it!" Will growled and made a sweeping gesture with his arms, drawing a large ball of fluid into the air which he caught in a glass he snatched from the nearby counter. "I'm just going to get drunk now."

He stalked off to try and find some privacy.

As if drawn to the room by some unknown force she walks in.

"I'm just going to get drunk now."

'sounds like my kind of place' she thought to her self. "my god its cold in that place" she gathers up a few pillows and anything remotely warming and started to create a small fort around herself. "when i came in i heard someone mention drinking?"

Aaron finished off his pair of pastries, watching two of the other guys fumble around with some beer and make a mess.

Hmm, I need to get me one of those. he mused, and after another glance at the fridge showed it to be clear, stood up and walked over, being careful not to step on any parts of the shattered glass bottle. He opened the door, and started shifting bottles and cans around, until he located what he was looking for.

As he grabbed the neck of the bottle, a thought occurred to him. "Ah, maybe I should stay away from the depressants, since I don't even know where I am." He mumbled, not really meaning to say it out loud. He replaced the alcohol for something a bit less intoxicating, a root beer, and returned to his place on the couch.

After regaining his seat, he heard someone say; "when i came in i heard someone mention drinking?" He looked over to the voice, which was buried under a mound of pillows. he chuckled a bit and replied "Yeah, fridge is over there." he pointed to it. "It's got every kind of liquid imagineable in it too. soft drinks, alcohol, energy drinks, you name it. I think I even saw some protein shakes and frozen coffee in there."
